Papaya Kuir
Papaya Kuir is the manifestation of a dream to create spaces of belonging, support, and growth for queer and trans Latin American refugees and migrants in The Netherlands. Many members of our community have remarkable potential and rich lived experiences and expertise. However, given a lack of support and opportunities for formal training given their/our precarious circumstances and everyday violence, our full potential is often not realized. We, as Papaya Kuir, are agents of social change equipping our community with tools for personal and collective empowerment. We strive to exchange knowledge practices, to develop skills in advocating for ourselves and our communities, and to create spaces that repair and nourish our sense of dignity. We are cultivating a new generation of empowered queer and trans Latin American migrants who can sustain the activities and cultural contributions of our community in the long-term. We aim to continue to be a source of critical support, knowledge sharing, empowerment and inspiration not just for our community but for The Netherlands and the Latin American diaspora at large.
